We are qualified teachers in Ballroom and Latin American (IDTA, SATD, NZFATD and NZFDT), New Vogue (NZFATD), Zumba, Personal fitness training NL (FitVak), Child development in dance NL (Beweegkriebels) and members of, and adjudicators for, WDO and WDC.
In 1986, after a successful dance career in New Zealand, Rachell Jansen travelled alone to England on a hunch that there she would find the partner that could take her career to a higher level.
At this same time, the Dutch Amateur Latin American champion, Peter van der Veek, was searching for the suitable person whom, together with his determination and drive, could form the perfect partnership.
A top coach in London introduced the pair, knowing this was the partnership they were both seeking. And she was proved right.
In May 1987, after only six months together, Peter and Rachell won the Dutch Amateur Latin American Championship held in The Hague. They also went down in history as the first couple from two different countries to win the title.
It is the extra magic they produce through their love of dancing which has enabled them to succeed over winning combinations built over a long period.
During this time Peter and Rachell had created their own unique style, and decided the time was now right to further themselves in a professional career. The decision was then also made to request permission to represent New Zealand as professional dancers, and which was duly granted.
Since turning professional in 1988 they have become well known for their large and varied repertoire including not only the Ballroom and Latin American dances but also the Argentine Tango, show dancing, Exhibition and flamenco, and their enthralling shows continually captured the imagination of audiences the world over.
Their innovative ideas have been sought by the Dutch National Ballet and their cavern of knowledge is respected by budding champions.
Through the magnificent pride Peter and Rachell felt for their countries they have been excellent ambassadors, and simply wish to continue to take every opportunity to reach out and touch audiences through the magic of dance.
